Gareth Morgan is an economist, investment manager, philanthropist, motorcycle adventurer, and public commentator. He is also author of a series of books that scrutinise the spending of public money on various public services, including health, tax and welfare, and sustainability issues like fishing and climate change. Gareth was a member of the Capital Markets Development Taskforce 2008 – 2009 and the Tax Working Group in 2009.

Gareth is one of the founders of Gareth Morgan Investments (GMI) and is chairman of GMI’s Investment Governance Committee. His focus is questioning and testing strategy ideas and scrutinising changes proposed to the investment portfolios and overall investment strategy. Gareth is also an Executive Director of GMI.

Gareth has a PhD in Economics from Victoria University of Wellington.
